I’ve worked on several films in 2024 and have been producing short sketches as weekly exercises for my Screen Production 3 course at UNSW.
Week 2 Class Exercise: The Hand Chase Sequence
In our second tutorial we were tasked with making an unconventional chase sequence . We weren’t entirely sure how to respond to the brief so we filmed a chase scene in miniature scale using our hands as performers.
Week 7 Class Exercise: The Slapping
In the week 7 tutorial we needed to transform the game of slaps into a dramatic ceremony using shot composition and editing. Using intense lighting in a studio setup and dramatic slow closeups we devised an effective battle sequence.
Week 8 Class Exercise: The Peeing Film
Our Week 8 in-class exercise was to shoot a short film about a man with a desperate need to pee suffering in his futile search for a bathroom. We chose to represent this narrative soviet montage style. We shot this in week but I lost the card with all the original files so we had to go back and re-shoot everything the following week. I learned an important lesson in backing up files and taking better care of my SD cards.
